CREATING CONSCIOUS IMPACT

All our actions, words and thoughts have an impact on ourselves and our environment. Most times, however, we are flying on autopilot, unaware of what is going on inside of us and missing the bigger picture in our busy daily routines.

Creating conscious impact requires the active training of our minds to stay in the present moment and the development of our ability to choose conscious response over automatic reaction. This enables us to choose a response that is in alignment with our core personal values.

Doing inner and outer work can be deeply satisfying for the individual while also serving the world at large.

DOING INNER WORK

This work helps us understand our thoughts, emotions and actions. It requires us to self-reflect, train our minds to rest in the present moment and to reconnect with the values that are most important in our life.

Inner work helps us to reconnect to ourselves, on both the emotional and physical levels and thereby bring balance and perspective to our busy lives.

Key tools of inner work are the establishment of a regular meditation practice and the cultivation of mindfulness in everyday life. Inner work can also involve investigating limiting beliefs, blocked emotions and the cultivation of gratitude, compassion and lovingkindness.

DOING OUTER WORK

Outer work provides us with a sense of meaning and connectedness to the world. It is about not looking away when social and environmental injustices occur and, instead, following our hearts to do something about them.

That action can be small or big, it comes from the heart and requires us to trust that each one of us can be part of finding solutions on a bigger scale.

Outer work involves the realignment of our individual talents with our passion and sense of purpose and to use of these skills for the benefit of others.

"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them..."
